The history of Agroindustrias González began long before the company existed. It began with a family’s decision to believe in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
Jorge González Granda was one of the first to open that path. He arrived in Ecuador’s Oriente region convinced that this area, then full of challenges, also held enormous opportunities. There, he built his life and his work, and through various roles he contributed to the development of Lago Agrio and the province, including his career in local politics. That vision of believing in the Amazon and working for its development was also the legacy he passed on to his children.
Among them is Jorge González, an agricultural engineer trained at Escuela Zamorano, who years later decided to continue that path through agricultural production.
What began with a few ponds for raising tilapia grew over the years into an agro-industrial project that today brings together production, innovation, and job creation.
More than a business history, the story of Agroindustrias González is the story of a family that found in the Amazon a place to build, produce, and contribute to Ecuador, a vision that continues to evolve with new generations and new challenges.
A dream born from work
The early years were marked by constant challenges. There were no large facilities or modern equipment. What existed was something far more valuable: the conviction that it was possible to produce quality food from the Ecuadorian Amazon.
The company began by promoting fish farming in the region, training thousands of producers, and contributing to the development of an activity that transformed the economy of many Amazonian families.
Over time, new challenges arrived, along with new opportunities. With the introduction of high-quality genetics, pig farming became a new goal: new farms were built, infrastructure with international standards was developed, and a production model based on innovation, sustainability, and animal welfare was consolidated.
Growing without forgetting the roots
Every new business unit, every investment, and every innovation has shared the same purpose: generating development for Ecuador without losing the commitment to the people and the territory where the company was born.
Today, Agroindustrias González brings together a production ecosystem that spans pig genetics, fish farming, food processing, sales, and technological solutions for the livestock sector, demonstrating that growth is possible when there is a long-term vision.
